The review

Two scales of appetite in one basin.

The strainer contains an unusually legible lunch: individual rice grains, torn cilantro, lime pulp, two corn kernels, and one black bean. The larger tortilla triangle rests several inches above, its bite missing from the inward edge. This is a textbook Conjunction—preparation and refusal, catch and remainder, accident and choice.

The sunlight is almost indecently beautiful. It makes the tortilla appear staged and the basket look freshly curated. We find no evidence of intervention beyond the rinse itself.

What it says about the owner

Mara made this lunch rather than ordering it. The distinction matters because no cooking trace appears in the first four months of the record. Here are chopped herbs, squeezed citrus, and multiple components assembled with attention.

The portion is still built for one. But preparation has returned, which is often the first domestic habit to come back before company does.
