Breakfast at the edge of visibility.

The navy basin nearly absorbs the blueberry skins. Only their wrinkled gloss separates fruit from enamel. Oats sit higher on the mesh, pale and swollen, while poppy seeds occupy the smallest intersections as if the basket were a chart drawn to their scale.

Nothing remains outside the drain. This is the purest kind of Catch: minor fragments with a highly legible meal of origin and no theatrical basin piece to explain them. The viewer has to come close, which is part of the reward.

What it says about the owner

Mara's old breakfast was designed to be carried out the door. This bowl was eaten at the table before work, alongside the poppy-seed roll Tom left in a paper bag the night before. The mixed traces suggest no grand conversion—only eight unhurried minutes she did not previously allow herself.

At 8:11, she misses her usual bus. The next one arrives seven minutes later. A cartographer can know precisely what a delay costs and still decide it is affordable.
