Late work, reduced to punctuation.
Black and white sesame overlap in the lower mesh with four rice flecks and two scallion rings. There is no basin food and no utensil, only a canonical Catch held inside steel circles. Under practical light, the black seeds appear briefly to erase the white ones. Hence the eclipse.
The evidence suggests a small rice bowl rinsed clean, but portion and source remain uncertain. More useful is the basket's emptiness around the cluster: this was one efficient rinse, not a kitchen accumulating a day.
What it says about the owner
The sink is in the Department of Routes & Civic Measure. Mara had stayed late to test the walking interval between the river platform and the last northbound bus. At 11:18, Tom sent his version of their father's coastal route. It included a detour to the old water tower and one note: you always liked the long way when it had a view.
She corrected no spelling. At 11:27 she rinsed the bowl, sent him a check mark, and left the office before the final bus became a line on one of her own maps.
